Walkin’ in Memphis
Well, it’s one for the money; two for the show, three to get ready, now let’s go to Memphis!
Get on board the luxury motor coach and head south – first stop is outside of Louisville, Kentucky at the Jim Beam Distillery. Here we will enjoy a guided tour and learn how the Jim Beam family has been making bourbon in Kentucky for more than 200 years. Experience how their legacy comes to life each and every day.
We will enjoy lunch en route as we travel south. Once we arrive in Memphis we will check-in at The Peabody Hotel. The history dates back to 1869 and continues their legacy of the “South’s Grand Hotel.” In 1933 ducks were originally placed in the hotel’s lobby fountain, setting in motion an 80-year tradition that continues today with the March of the Peabody Ducks. The Peabody will be our home for the next three nights. We will enjoy dinner and a restful night.
Day two, begin with a delicious southern breakfast, which will prepare you for an exciting day of exploration of history. Our day will include, Slave Haven Underground Railroad Museum, National Civil Rights Museum, lunch at Central BBQ. After lunch we will stand on the legendary floor of the Memphis Cotton Exchange where cotton traders once stood at the center of the global cotton economy. Learn the story of cotton – the crop that created empires, transformed American culture and changed the history of a nation and the world.
Return to The Peabody for time to relax or explore on your own. We will meet and enjoy dinner at the Center for Southern Folklore where we have arranged special entertainment for the evening.
Day three will include a “whole lot of shakin” as we enjoy breakfast at The Peabody and meet our tour guide for the Memphis Mojo Tour! Our day will include Gibson Guitar Factory tour, Graceland where you will begin the Platinum Pass tour of the “King’s” legendary grounds, which include the Mansion, Auto Museum, Special Exhibits, Archives and Private jets. Our musical journey will continue with Sun Studios and dinner at B.B. King’s with live entertainment. Sweet dreams!
Day four we enjoy breakfast once again at The Peabody and prepare to depart for home. We will relax on the coach and share our favorite memories maybe even hum some of our favorite songs….don’t step on my blue suede shoes. Lunch en route and an extra stop back home in Indiana to stretch before arriving in Indy.
